well the first ingredient in nutella is sugar and the second is palm oil. the first: terrible for you, specifically your arteries and circulatory system, plus sugar is 8x more addicting than cocaine... the second ingredient is produced by tearing apart rainforests and thus killing many species but specifically orangutans. you don't want to support foods made with palm oil.
so i thought, why not make this tasty spread a little healthier and completely cruelty free? i had robb taste test before posting the recipe here, and now i'm sharing it with you. obviously the easier option is to buy in store but where's the fun in that? get out your food processor or high speed blender and let's get to work!

ingredients:
3c hazelnuts
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp cacao powder
1/2c agave or maple syrup
2 medjool dates (optional)
bake hazelnuts @ 400 for 10-15 minutes
rub the skin off with a dish towel after roasting
add all ingredients to food processor, blend + enjoy!

some recipes call for a plant based milk... i don't use any milk but you can adjust based on the consistency you prefer! i find cashew milk is creamier than other plant milks.
