we as a human race must uphold our responsibility to respect one another, without judgment or malice.

with that said, there is bias in many, if not all, industries.

i will be using this platform to highlight and showcase some minority owned businesses and entrepreneurs from here forward. we are, and have been, influenced and inspired by the black community, the LBGTQ community, and POC in so many ways, most of them spiritually and artistically. much of the music i listen to now and grew up listening to was derived from minority's cultures and heritage; artists like Luther Vandros, Bill Withers, and Miles Davis. most of the performers on NYC streets and in the subway stations are LGBTQ and POC.

this space, what i call my virtual diary, promotes the artistic, spiritual, feel good aspects of our daily lives, by extracting our creativity from within.

i've learned so much this week; reading and relating to others, absorbing information that we are not taught in school, that is not within the pages of a textbook, but only understood by listening to the experiences of other human beings. i encourage all of us to have more meaningful conversations, even ones that make us uncomfortable. and more so than ever to protect our peace, our individuality, what makes all of us special in our own ways.

the below artists and entrepreneurs are men and women i have been following and drawing inspiration from for some time now. these interiors and textiles are each created by, owned by, styled by men and women of the black community.

Kelly who founded pure collected has an amazing eye for interiors but in addition to styling an designing she also takes beautiful photos and offer photography services to her clients.

Carla's minimalistic style dinnerware is everything. i love it all!

this chicago-based shop sells luxury home decor sourced from Haiti and multiple countries in Africa and Asia.

@peaceandriot

new york natives combining their African and Caribbean heritages in their brooklyn boutique. there's a little bit of everything from coffee table books and wall decor to baskets and coasters.

for those who know me, you know i love a beautifully hand carved mask or in this case an Ethiopian three legged stool (babe if you see this post, i want...). this shop has so many stunning, one of a kind pieces. i started following her after Nasozi Kakembo was featured on The Cut last year.

i love the modern heritage collection.

(my favorite is the pillow on the floor with the bold charcoal stripe - but are you surprised)

before i go, i love each and every one of you. treat everyone with respect, with how you want to be treated. stand up for your fellow humans, and continue to be your best self everyday.

and let me know if you want more of these.

obviously the ones above are home decor based since that has been my most recent obsession.

however, i would really like to feature black + brown artists, sculptors, activists, photographers etc.

stay tuned & stay safe <3
