kitchen essentials

welcome back! since moving into my most recent home, i've thoroughly enjoyed the decorating process, combining my minimalistic, Scandinavian style with my boyfriend's modern bohemian.

home is a space that we create and fill with love. your space says something about you, about your character, the things you value... decorating is bigger than just making a room look nice. decorating takes time, even some research, pinteresting,  and window-shopping. finding inspiration in textiles, colors, places, people....

we spend a lot of time in our kitchen, either working, entertaining, hanging out or eating.  we've spent time changing out hardware and island lighting, adding contrast and textures, playing with accents such as candles and plants, trays and cheese boards... and i'm very proud of this room and how it continues to evolve.

personally, i prefer a cosy vibe with lots of textures and a neutral color palette. we do have lots of counter space and see through cabinets that i can't wait to decorate with some books, candles, glasses... but everything in time.

after living in our home for officially one year i can confidently say these are items that i NEED in my kitchen (& love)

DECOR

we always keep lemon water and fresh iced tea in our home

serena & lilly tray  i like to keep on my counter with a candle and a vase of flowers or a bowl of produce i'm currently using

i also love this one by the same company if you prefer a square tray to a round one

aesop hand soap has the most amazing packaging and smells incredible. it's the only soap i use in my home now.

how gorgeous are those layered farmhouse wood boards propped against kitchen counters on pinterest?  i'm hoping to collect a few sizes and shapes to display upon my countertop (and hide some plugs we don't regularly use). nothing too bold, i'm looking for different stains and visibly different shapes / sizes. my favorites are on McGee + Co but wayfair's J.K. Adamscollection has great options.

we currently have the round Acacia wood board from Target

vase with fresh flowers.

candles are a must...

im obsessed with the Arhaus tobacco candle in size large but it is pricey so we opt for DW sandalwood most of the time from BB+B

still on the search for the perfect turkish runner... i've seen them in so many homes, different colors, some more vintage inspired that others - all absolutely stunning and perfect statement piece for an otherwise minimalistic room.

COOKING + BAKING

these clear bowls come as a set of 10 and are perfect for mixing ingredients when baking, throwing together a small salad or separating ingredients

although i'd love a vitamix, i have to say our ninja blender really does the job. however we do have a food processor that i use a lot as well to make vegan ice cream and no bake vegan goods.

our cooking utensils are from amazon, easy peasy + they get the job done. but i am eyeing wood ones from William Sanoma...

our pans are from home goods, we looked for non stick with a wood handle in different sizes but the rest of our cookware is Le Creuset that we got on sale at nordstrom. so our pot, cast iron pan, and signature iron skillet are from there.

SUSTAINABLE ITEMS

i'm going to do a whole post on how to make small lifestyle changes to help the environment but in the meantime...

we stopped using plastic bags at the grocery for produce and now keep these in our kitchen in our re-suable tote bags, also for grocery shopping or any kind of shopping.

and drink water from our Ella BPA free glass cups instead of purchasing bottled water.

turkish dish towels are the best, they dry quickly and are machine washable. i use them to dry our dishes and clean up the surfaces of our kitchen instead of using paper towels.
